A comic strip exhibition in Onex

Created in 2019 by Lyon Bd Festival, Pro Helvetia and the Wallonie-Bruxelle Region, the exhibition was on show in Onex from March 17 to 26 2023 (after Lyon, Paris, Brussels, Lebanon and Cuba). Showcasing Francophone European comics (mainly from Switzerland / France / Belgium), was expanded in Onex to feature local artists such as Rudolphe Toeppfer (inventor of the Bande dessinée) and Onex illustrators Zep and Eric Buche.

A film to promote the exhibition

The Service culturel de la Ville d’Onex called on the talent of Eric Buche – a well-known comic book artist in the region – to work with me on the promotional clip for the exhibition. Buche had been a contributor to Glénat’s “Tchô !” comic magazine, which agreed to use the characters for the film. I was able to create the animatic for the clip, with Eric Buche, and then we divided up the work between us. I did all the 3D work, and he did the 2D characters.

The dancing sculpture is Hugo Rondinone’s “The Wise”, which stands at the entrance to the exhibition space and is one of Onex’s most striking symbols.

The video, posted on the Ville d’Onex Youtube channel, has become one of the most viral videos on their channel, with 44,000 views in just a short time!

The exhibition

For a glimpse of the exhibition, you can watch the TV Onex report I devoted to it (unrelated to the promotional clip, which was a mandate from the Service Culturel).
